CAREER SUMMARY
I have over 11 years of structural design experience in Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Residential, Commercial, Agricultural, Waste Treatment, Water and Wastewater Industries. My experience includes structural design of Wood, Steel and Concrete buildings and structures. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience, combined with finite element computer modelling allow me to solve complex structural problems and provide clients with reliable and cost-efficient solutions.
I have a full PEO license to practice Professional Engineering in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Structural Engineer
2018 - Present
VanHarberden Consulting Inc
Woodstock, Canada
Working remotely from my home office allowed me more effectively perform engineering tasks which included:
Project management and supervision of junior engineers and technologists.
Design of commercial and multi-story residential buildings using Tilt-Up Concrete construction. Tilt-Up was designed in conformance with CSA A23.3 requirements. Modeling and detailing of concrete panels using Revit. Provided engineering stamp and site supervision of the projects. Coordination between Contractors and Architects.
Design of pre-engineered steel buildings using FEM software in accordance with CSA S16-09 and other applicable standards. Coordination between steel fabricators, clients, and other engineering disciplines. Preparation of Steel Shop Drawings. Use of Engineering Seal.
Design of agricultural facilities: timber trusses, barns, storage bin foundations, and circular concrete retaining tanks. Use of Engineering Seal.
Structural Engineering
2014 - 2019
GHD Ltd.
Waterloo, Canada
Switching from the corporate office to my home office helped me to complete the design of the large industrial projects on time. My tasks at GHD included:
Design of Water and Waste Water retaining structure for large industrial and major water treatment projects. Perform design in conformance with the requirements of CSA A23.3, ACI 350, ASCE 7 and seismic consideration per ACI 350.3.
Perform design of pile foundations considering the results of the pile testing program implemented on site. Piles were modeled using nonlinear springs to simulate actual pile behavior.
Provide engineering mentorship to our international team from the Manila office, which performed the design of Headworks building.
Designed structures for the Oil and Gas industry. Fuel Containments, Pipe Supports, Vessels foundations for multiple projects in Indiana, USA and Ontario Canada using AISC 360, ACI 318, ACI 350, CSA A23.3, CSA S16, ASCE 7 and other applicable codes. Use of Engineering Seal.
Perform structural investigations and visual structural condition assessments of walls, floor, columns, beams, roof, and other structural components of deteriorated structures. Prepare drawings and reports of required structural repairs. Use of Engineering Seal.
Design, Analysis and site supervision of Commercial Wind Turbine Foundations.
Jr. Structural Engineer
2012 - 2014
NA Engineering Inc.
Stratford, Canada
During my work at NA engineering, I was exposed to a wide range of projects:
Design of CANDU Nuclear Reactor Components Moke-Ups for Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and Bruce Power. Modeling and structural analysis of the components using FEM software.
Seismic Qualification of the components in the proximity of a nuclear reactor to ensure operational safety during potential design earthquake.
Design of Residential, Commercial and Agricultural buildings.
Structural Designer
2007 - 2010
TAM Gromov & Paltsev
Moscow, Russia
While still in University I was hired full time by Architect company. My typical tasks included:
Design of Mid and High Rise buildings using FEM software and hand calculations in accordance with local codes and standards (SNiP).
Design of Municipal Steel Buildings and preparation of Steel Shop Drawings.
Site inspections.
Work closely with Architects and Municipalities.
